I guess everybody who read Song of Ice and Fire saga is familiar with Meereen, the largest city of the three great slaver cities of Slaver's bay. Yep, the city where Daenerys resided. I won't spoil anything for those who are fans of the show and didn't read the following books. But it's just amazing and beautiful city and this is how I imaginate it. Some things I made exactly as it's described in the book, but some from my imagination.
Hope you like it!
### MINOR SPOILER ALERT ### I'd like to justify why the city might look so empty. I wanted it that way. I wanted it to be sunset scene, where Daenerys is looking outside over the city. Thinking about 'another tough Queen day' and about how hard it is to rule, when somewhere in these pyramids are people wanting her dead. So I wanted to evoke an atmosphere, that would say: "You're still a stranger in the city, no matter how hard you try to rule us, our city will never truly be yours." And that's why I didn't add anybody else, so the contrast is more obvious and show how Daenerys really felt - alone. If you're still asking why there are no people, notice - it's some kind of dust/sand storm going on out there.
First of all, I couldn't do it without this amazing Daenerys stock from Aurelia-Isabella: [link]
The rest of it is either mine, or photos from cgtextures and 3dtotal.com.
I made a rough scene in Cinema 4D (well, not that rough, it took me 6 hours and 30 minutes to make composition as I wanted it to be).
A added some textures and light in C4D and refined them in Photoshop. There I spent almost 16 hours of making things right.
### TEXTURES ###
Background sky is a mix of some photos of mine. So is practically every other cloud texture in the image.

From www.cgtextures.com, which I can't direct-link, because the page doesn't allow it: flower beds, landscapes in the background, sea texture, some trees, marble textures and some tileable textures (bricks) used on pyramids.
